James Forrest: Celtic winger positive despite not scoring in Kilmarnock win

Scottish Premiership leaders maintained their lead near the top of the table but James Forrest abandoned Celtic Park on Sunday wondering how he didn’t score.
The Hoops winger hit the woodwork twice and has been denied multiple times by Kilmarnock goalkeeper Laurentiu Branescu, maintaining him seven goals for this season.
But after the ending of Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard’s brace rounded off a comeback victory for Celtic, Forrest insists the chances made by the champions proved to be a sign.
Forrest explained:“Their goalkeeper was appropriate up for it straight from the start and he made a great few saves.
„He left us work for your goals, but it’s always hard against Kilmarnock, home or away.
„There are some games at the season if you might get one opportunity and you score.
„Then there are people just like yesterday where I had four or five opportunities, but it just didn’t happen.
„However, it shows you’re playing well and with confidence when you are receiving tons of opportunities. If you continue doing the appropriate things the goals will come“
Celtic have won their first six league games to sit three points clear of Rangers and turn their focus to their own Scottish League Cup.
Forrest included:“Ever since we came back into pre-season we’ve been to a lot of places in different competitions.
„We’re on a fantastic run and we all had a great win on Sunday.
„We’re back on Wednesday and it is another huge match, “ the quarter-final of the [League] Cup, so we need to get ready and go again.“
