Roberto Firmino’s stats will never paint a narrative of his skill as journalist Natalie Gedra underlines his importance to Liverpool.
Firmino began in their 3-1 win over Newcastle on the bench for Liverpool but was thrust into the activity after Divock Origi suffered an injury as well as the set to Liverpool’s final two objectives up Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Firmino grabbed the official man-of-the-match award despite only playing with 53 moments.
Even Newcastle boss Steve Bruce conceded Firmino was the gap:“His motion and how he plays, Liverpool are as great as there is with him in this place.“
Firmino netted 12 and just listed six assists while Salah and Mane scored 22 goals last season to a runners-up end in the Premier League in Liverpool’s extraordinary rush.
Thinks analysing his statistics aren’t a manifestation of his integral role for Jurgen Klopp’s side although firmino is once more lagging behind his attack partners.
She said about Sunday Supplement:“There is a debate in Brazil about whether he’s the best player to have played at the Premier League and also the counter argument is that he has never led in assists, he has never won the Premier League but that’s what about Firmino – it is hard to measure how much he does for the team.
„It is not on the stats, so you just have to watch and enjoy it. He does much more because his stats are not outstanding, and he is not valued enough although sometimes I believe he goes under the radar. His aid against Newcastle was just outstanding for the purpose of Salah.
„The impression that I have about Firmino is that his vision of this game just keeps improving and when you think he has reached the top for the previous few seasons, he’s just been brilliant and today he keeps getting better and better. He reads his team’s wants – it is impressive. We keep talking about how unselfish he is, but his cleverness about the pitch is so crucial for this Liverpool side“
Jason Burt – from this Daily Telegraph – consented with no Firmino, Liverpool would not operate at exactly the same degree.
„Firmino and Mane really are a excellent mix and Firmino is the oil in the motor to get Liverpool,“ he explained.
„He gets Mane and Salah much better since they are direct and incredibly clever players, but he’s the one which has that subtlety. The press is set by him too – he’s the one which moves shuts the resistance down and it is that work speed. They’re getting better and better.
„What I really like about this Liverpool team and that which they did in summer time has allowed the staff to create over anything else. They’ve thought’we will place our foot to the ball at the transfer market, we don’t need to earn plenty of new players, perhaps we’ll earn a couple second summer, but this year will be the one to capitalise on which we did last season and push on with that‘.
„They’ve effectively got new players arriving from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez and those players have not peaked yet. This could be the time they peak as a team. You look at them at the minute with five wins out of five and those three up front, you would go a long way to conquer it.“
