It will bring back memories of a time ahead of training sessions and lessons with Kieran Trippier when England ahead Toni Duggan faces former club Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Duggan, 28, swapped Barcelona for Atletico Madrid this summer and will return in the first leg of their tie to the Academy Stadium.
She has been a part of the England squads that finished third and fourth in the 2015 and 2019 and won four key titles Womens World Cups.
In a wide-ranging interview with BBC Sport, Duggan talks about Spanish culture, friendship with former Tottenham guardian Trippier and theembarrassment of last years Champions League final defeat.
Once she abandoned Barcelona in the summer liverpool-born Duggan transferred to Spain but could have returned to England.
Manchester United were allegedly an alternative but after acrazy move window chose Spanish champions Atletico.
This was a bit up in the atmosphere. There were opportunities in different countries but Atletico have been the perfect club at the perfect moment. Their style of play suits me down into the ground, Duggan told BBC Sport.
Ive just missed one year competing in the Champions League – that was my very first year in Manchester City and it was difficult. My choices were rather limited when you consider that up.
Duggan admits she misses home a lot and it can bedifficult being apart from family.
I felt that way in Barcelona and I believe I miss it now, she said. Football is a short career so you have to take the opportunities in the future.
Family come out to help me but its not the same as sitting at the living room together along with my brothers and my mom, all winding each other up and doing things you dont have to do.
But family is not the only thing Duggan misses.
I dont half miss a roast! I found a place and I tried to return there, every Sunday. I need to locate anyone in Madrid.
One of Duggans biggest challenges has been studying the language and after admitting shecouldnt relax at Barcelona her Spanish hasreally improved in Madrid.
In Barcelona they are treated by them by speaking Catalan too. There were instances when you thought you were doing really well then somebody talked in Catalan and also you also couldnt understand a sentence and were somewhat confused, said Duggan.
I would not be overly confident doing a full meeting in Spanish but I can certainly get by.
Duggan says Spains coaching styles area different level to exactly what she used to in England.
A great deal of it had been using the ball at Barcelona and it is very similar in Madrid, she said. All of the women are technical – more than in England. They place a major emphasis on that.
Physically, I dont believe the Spanish team is quite at the level of England but its been really interesting regarding the skills that they do.
The difference between Atletico and Barcelona – their personalities are so different.
The womens game ison the up at Spain states Duggan, who scored for former club Barcelona in a 2-0 triumph over Atletico facing 60,739 lovers at the Wanda Metropolitano final year – a list for a top-flight domestic womens match in Europe.
Former Tottenham defender Trippier combined Duggan in Atletico Madrid signing a three-year deal.
This month, before finally grabbing at a joint training session the pair exchanged regular messages.
I have talked to him a little, said Duggan. We were at exactly the identical complicated for the first couple of weeks but I kept him.
Id see Diego Costa and another players but never seemed to grab Kieran.
We had a coaching session 2 weeks back and I was able to catch up with him then.
His loved ones are over here and hes taking Spanish lessons – he is actually trying hard in that regard. He explained the supervisor speaks so fast, he would like to attempt to pick up it.
Hes really pleased with the decision that hes made. It is nice that I have that support from him today and of course, I give him too.
More players are going to Europe and Duggan says its because players like Izzy Christiansen and Englands Lucy Duggan – who combined Champions League winners Lyon at 2017 and 2018 respectively – have done well.
I think its really great for your English game for individuals to go out and examine themselves. It does challenge you and improve you. That can help England as a team.
People arent as worried as they were previously. It is the exact same from the mens game because Jadon [Sancho] is doing really well at Borussia Dortmund and now Trippier here in Atletico.
Duggan started a year and moved into Spain seeking a Champions League name.
But Barcelonas 4-1 defeat by Lyon abandoned herdevastated andhumiliated.
England were on duty before the World Cup and I understood each of the staff were sitting watching on a big screen, she states.
I could not get that out of my mind – the night after the game it was all that I could consider.
Once I turned up into the England camp later, people were sayingwell done for getting that way. However, it felt as though that wasnt great enough. You go to finals to acquire it
A quarter-final location is up for grabs from City and when asked if playing against her England team-mates adds competitiveness, Duggan stated:Yes I need to win.
Im convinced City will need some revenge [for past years defeat by Atletico]. While they are talking about being in another round of the Champions League I dont want to turn until the global break and I am not.
I want to win that battle. I want to win every game but I want to win more so against City or some other ex-club.
