Ben Stokes reflects on a sensational summer with England

England’s top man Ben Stokes spoke for an entire nation of cricket fans as??he awakened an unforgettable summer in five words:“It has been a blast.“
The game has enjoyed its year because 2005, elbowing its way into the national conversation using a diet of spills and excitement, by an early World Cup triumph to some very first drawn Ashes show in 47 years.
Nobody has played a part in delivering moments than Stokes. It was his one-handed’Superman‘ grab at the World Cup curtain-raiser that got the championship going in style, his never-say-die innings that pulled back the hosts from the brink in the closing and his all-time classic knock at Headingley that given the highlight of a hard-fought Test effort against Australia.
Having spent the last couple of months in the eye of a storm, Stokes was able to kick back and share a beer with his England team-mates and Australian competitions as both sides came together to kickstart a 2-2 draw at The Oval dressing rooms.
„It has been a blast,“ he said. „There’ve been some amazing highs and a few moments that I can hardly believe happened, but they failed and that I will always have the ability to recall what it was like being out there in the midst when we won the World Cup or won in Headingley.
„It probably has not all sunk in yet, but at a certain point I’ll have the ability to look back with satisfaction at what we managed to achieve as a one time team and a Test team that season.
„Before England had played a match this summer we understood we had the World Cup along with the Ashes ahead of us and today we’re stood here at the ending as World Cup winners and with a drawn Ashes series.
„It has not been plain sailing since we had to dig out of a pit in the World Cup after which we needed to encounter until the very last to get that prize, but we still got it.
„Exactly the same in the Ashes, we had to struggle all the way into the limit to find the attraction but we have it and I think this is something we could be so proud of. When things got tough, we did not sag, we stood tall towards the end and showed the character in our dressing room.“
He was excited to share the credit with coworkers, although stokes is still poised to go down as the figure in 2019’s athletic dramas.
He deemed Stuart Broad’s consistent performances leading the Test strike“heroic“, Rory Burns“amazing“ for his efforts at opener and stated of emerging star Jofra Archer:“I don’t believe I have seen a more talented bowler in my moment.“
There was also a special tribute for Jack Leach, drafted in as spinner after Moeen Ali’s lack of shape. He managed 12 wickets, including two in two balls to complete the series but won the people hearts.
His one not outside at in a rack of 76 with Stokes will decrease in folklore, as will his custom of meticulously rubbing his eyeglasses.
„He’s been the crowd favourite the entire summer,“ Stokes said. „The entire country fell in love with him.“
There were reports that Australia were taken together with his routine but they refused man of the series Steve Smith was mocking Leach if he donned a pair of glasses.
As the teams secured evening the couple happily posed for a light-hearted picture.
„He came to me to allow me to know that it was not about me. I was sort of hoping it was,“ Leach said of Smith. „I believed it was a fantastic laugh. I was quite embarrassed after Headingley when the video came out of me recreating my first one.
„I believe I deserved this, to be honest. That’s why we got a picture after the game
Leach was able to share a joke with fellow spinner Nathan Lyon, who fumbled an easy jog.
„Nathan came and explained to me,’How many beers do you owe me?‘ I think owe him a lot,“ he smiled.
„When I was batting in the end and the audience were all singing,’Stand up in the event that you enjoy Jack Leach‘. I just thought,’What is going on?‘ Sport is fickle and I suppose you need to appreciate the great moments and never get too down about the bad moments.“
