Rugby World Cup typhoon: Right decision to cancel games because of threat to human safety

The choice has been made because of safety. It wasnt made lightly. World Rugby pondered it long.
But finally theyve decided they have got to place security first. And its the perfect choice.
Englands Pool C clash with France at Yokahama is your very first World Cup game to be cancelled, and the Pool B game between Italy and New Zealand has followed suit.
Because the typhoon thats going towards the shore of Japan is huge, the decision has been made.
Its class five – and – stated to beviolent. Bring wind speeds of 160 miles per hour and it is going to hit on Saturday.
If it hits, it is going to be the most abusive typhoon to strike Japan in 26 decades. You cannot be playing rugby at a typhoon.
Yes its disappointing, but I believe most people will accept its the right decision.
But, there are questions over whether World Rugby have put the ideal contingency plans in place. They understood they were planning to maintain a World Cup in typhoon season.
The organisers have defended the decision, stating they haveno regrets at all.
World Rugby tournament manager Alan Gilpin stated:We always knew there were going to be dangers. It is uncommon for a typhoon of this size to cause this effect so overdue In typhoon season. Security is priority.
However, while England go through to the quarter-finals anyway, the major one on Sunday is Scotlands decider at Yokahama.
What could happen is closer of infrastructure although the typhoon should have passed through by then, there may be harm to the stadium and flooding.
Thus morning World Rugby are going to make a determination.
If this match is cancelled it might be termed a 0-0 draw and 2 points would be awarded. That would be rather extraordinary.
Scotland are currently demanding contingencies plans be put to compete for a quarter-final place on this pitch. However, World Rugby have produced apparent that rescheduling the match is not an alternative.
Whats clear is before it came that Typhoon Hagibis has caused damage to the Rugby World Cup.
