UFC 228 takes place on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in the American Airlines Arena Center at Dallas, Texas.
The principal card broadcasts live on pay-per-view starting 10 p.m. ET following the FS1 prelims.
Two title fights top UFC 228, a card that also offers some of the greatest girls in the sport. Welterweight kingpin Tyron Woodley will eventually return to defend his title against kickboxer Darren Until in a classic wrestler vs. striker matchup. Till has become the hottest 170-pounder in 2018, and now the brash Brit evaluations himself against the best.
Valentina Shevchenko was tabbed as a future 125-pound champ as soon as the UFC created the weight class. But current champion Nicco Montano has had a litany of minor accidents that kept her from competing. Of course, that devolved into accusations of ducking, but Montano is finally healthy and ready to throw down.
Jessica Andrade vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz is fairly much a title eliminator. KK gets the distinction of being the last fighter to become present champ Rose Namajunas, although there are a whole lot of fans that believe Andrade would bulldoze from the champ. Without any context, I’m always down to see Andrade bomb and piledrive away.
Let’s not leave out the men : a featherweight matchup involving Yair Rodriguez and Zabit Magomedsharipov is so hot at the moment. Both dudes fight as they’re living in the matrix, throwing high-flying kicks and spinning sh*t with reckless abandon. It is a battle that Zabit was requesting for, and following some drama with Dana White, Yair is responsible for the win. This could be one of the most electrifying matchups of this year.
Who else? John Dodson takes on Jimmie Rivera in a contest with large bantamweight stakes. Rivera is somebody whose been knocking on the door to a title shot, but a quick reduction to Marlon Moraes ended a 20-fight winning series, together with the hopes of challenging for the strap anytime soon.
