WJC semifinals: Does Sweden Have the Edge as the Underdog?

The hopefully sold-out Bell Centre in Montreal will host the semifinal conflict between Canada and Sweden tonight and despite their body of work which has proved they are a much better team than the Canucks, the Swedes are pegged as the underdog. The Canadians have underwhelmed on most fronts in this tournament but what could cause their untimely passing tonight is their shaky goaltending.
Sweden and Canada have not played in the medal round in the WJC since 2009.
Canada’s goalies have united to get a .874 SV% and 2.21 GAA that tournament.
Sweden has created 186 shots in the WJC, the most of any team this year.
This is the worst possible matchup for the Canadians, who’ve fought significantly at the defensive end of the ice. Sweden has had the very best puck movement of any group in the championship and has been arguably the most consistent squad. They possess the WJC’s top scorer in Alexander Nylander and possess the very best six players on the plus-minus leaderboard. 1 area they have been subjected, however, is on the penalty kill. Sweden continues to be short-handed 18 occasions and has given up five goals. With nine power-play goals, Canada is the most efficient team with the man advantage.
With that said, the Canadians are a horribly boring team to watch five-on-five and may be caught off guard by the speed and talent of these Swedes. The +110 value being offered at online shop BetOnline is tough to discount for Team Sweden tonight. Having a group save percentage of .926, Filip Gustavsson and Felix Sandstrom are two of the strongest tendies in the tournament and as we’ve noticed, Canada has struggled to beat superior goaltending.
The entire tonight is secured in at six and you can probably go on and place a good-sized wager on the OVER. Sweden and Canada have combined to evaluate 52 goals by using their respective games and it seems like every weakness every group has will be subjected by the other group’s strengths.
If You’re thinking about taking Canada, then you may want to take them on the -1.5 puckline because one-goal successes happen to be somewhat of a rarity at this tournament
