Europe won the last 3 singles matches to secure a stunning 141/2-131/2 Solheim Cup victory over the United States.
Bronte Law, that minutes earlier won her game sprinted up the 18th fairway to join the celebrations.
„She got a bit of stick for receiving this choice, but it shows she had been the right one,“ explained Europe captain Catriona Matthew.
After taking some time from this game in November 2017 to have a 22,, Pettersen was initially chosen as a vice-captain. However, after returning to perform this year, Matthew gave a surprise 10th Solheim Cup look to the 39-year-old.
And her captain’s beliefs was repaid by her using a success that was nerve-shredding on the final green.
American Marina Alex overlooked a 10-foot putt to halve her game to make a 14th point that could have observed the trophy is retained by the US.
While Pettersen sized up what she believed is a putt to win her game Law was sealing that point back.
That suddenly supposed a Pettersen birdie would seal the win, while a miss would have observed the US retain the cup and reach 14 points but the Allied held her guts to spark wild celebrations.
Pettersen admitted she didn’t understand her putt was to win the trophy.
„It really was a big blur,“ she said. „I didn’t know. I was just attempting to earn a birdie.“
